David M. Lajara

Hey there! My name is David M. Lajara, and I'm a graphic designer born and raised in New York City. I currently work for The Walt Disney Company as a Graphic Designer, contributing to designs for Disney and many of its brand subsidiaries, such as ABC, ESPN, Marvel, Oscars, 20th Century Studios, Avatar, and more. Growing up, I always wanted to work as a Disney artist, so being able to create for such an impactful company (and getting to work with and be inspired by so many brilliant colleagues) has been a dream come true. I consider myself a multi-faceted designer and enjoy being able to create in various mediums, styles, and conceptual approaches.

It was a passion for art and illustration from an early age that led me to enroll at the High School of Art & Design. While studying there, I attained the fundamentals of design that would prepare me for my future collegiate studies in visual art. After graduating from high school with a major in Cartooning & Illustration, I went on to study at the School of Visual Arts for my freshman year—an amazing learning experience. After taking some time off, I began years of work as a freelance designer and later enrolled and graduated from Queens College with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design.

My design career began at Marvel Entertainment as an Interactive Designer. I grew up drawing Thor, Spider-Man, and playing Marvel games — so getting to work directly for a brand that was such an artistic inspiration to me was an opportunity I’m immensely grateful for!

Regarding my design approach, I try to ensure every design I create is rooted in compelling concepts, often telling a story. I believe in navigating through creative quandaries and coming up with solutions that revolve around bold color and a unique style. I’m incredibly inspired by music album art and aesthetics that have a subtle grit and edge.

In my free time, I enjoy pursuing my passion for music—this usually includes performing on my electric violin, producing electronic rock songs from scratch, or composing string arrangements on classical violin. I've been fortunate enough to study violin under Ellie Kang and David Lisker, perform at Carnegie Hall for composer Tim Janis, and work for MAC as a featured electric violinist.

Thanks for checking out my work & please feel free to say hey!
